Patient Lesson – Booklet 6: Managing Fluids on Peritoneal Dialysis (PD)

This booklet helps you understand fluid balance in the body and how to manage it as a PD patient.

Healthy kidneys work to balance the fluids in your body, removing extra fluids and waste products from your blood. While some fluids and waste products are removed during your PD treatments, some are left behind. If you have too much fluid in your body, it can cause symptoms such as swelling. It is crucial to monitor your fluid intake and output to help keep the fluids in your body balanced.
